Serbia Hands Out 46 Mln Euro in Subsidies to 18 Companies To Boost Employment - Media

BELGRADE (Serbia), December 1 (SeeNews) – Serbia on Tuesday handed out a combined 46 million euro ($69.4) in subsidies to 18 local and foreign companies pledging to employ a total of 2,252 people, local broadcaster b92 reported on Tuesday.

In Belgrade, Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic signed the contracts with the companies that will receive the subsidies designed to stimulate investment, b92 (www.b92.net) reported.

Serbia distributed 127.3 million euro in subsidies to 17 local companies in a bid to spur investment amidst the economic slump in July.

Serbia’s economy will grow by 1.5% next year, after an expected contraction by 2.8% this year, the country’s central bank said in its latest forecast.
