All works envisaged in the contract signed with Serbian state-run railway infrastructure operator Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije will be completed by the end of 2021, RZD said in a statement.

In January 2019, RZD signed a 230 million euro agreement with Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije 230 million euro for the electrification of the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad railway section, construction of a modern dispatch centre, as well as continuing with the overhaul of the section from Valjevo to Uzice, part of the railway line linking Belgrade to the Montenegrin port of Bar.

The project for the reconstruction of the 40.4 km Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section envisages the launch of a two-track rail line allowing speeds of up to 200 km/h.
