Financed through an Icelandic, Liechtensteiner, and Norwegian funding mechanism, Rottaprint’s project received a total of 1.5 million euro in non-reimbursable funds, the company said in a press release.

The target of the project was to improve the company's carbon footprint, introduce new products, while also increasing profitability and production capacity.

"Sustainability is one of our core strategic directions," Rottaprint general director Cristi Nechita-Rotta said.

Rottaprint was founded in 1991 and currently operates two logistics centres in Romania, as well as two international ones - in Germany and Hungary - all staffed by a total of 280 employees.

Rottaprint announced in May it had recorded a 5% increase in its exports in 2021.

The company has started exporting to three new markets since 2021 - Croatia, Latvia, as well as the UK, reaching a total of 13 destinations across Europe and Asia.

Based on data available on the finance ministry's website, Rottaprint booked a 2.8 million lei ($590,000/ 566,200 euro) net profit in 2021, a decrease over its 6.2 million lei result in the previous year. Its turnover in 2021 was 126.15 million lei, while in 2020 it recorded a turnover of 118 million lei.
