March 19 (SeeNews) - Romanian insurer Omniasig, part of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), said on Tuesday that its gross written premiums (GWPs) increased by 12% on the year in 2023, reaching 2.4 billion lei ($524 million/482.5 million euro).
Payments to clients in the form of compensations and allowances reached 1.2 billion lei last year, Omniasig VIG said in a press release.
The fire and natural disaster insurance line increased its GWP by over 20% in 2023 compared to the previous year, to approximately 370 million lei. Health insurance also continued on an upward trajectory, reaching gross written premiums of approximately 80 million lei, up by more than 10%.
Auto insurance, including CASCO and RCA, witnessed an aggregate rise in GWPs of approximately 10% in 2023, reaching a total value of around 1.6 billion lei.
General liability insurance saw its GWPs increase by around 20% last year, reaching around 120 million lei. Travel insurance also recorded growth, with premiums reaching approximately 20 million lei, up 40%.
Omniasig Vienna Insurance Group has been present on the Romanian market since 1995. The company has a portfolio of more than 100 insurance products and a nationwide network of branches and agencies employing some 1,100 people.
