In May alone, Romania issued 3,050 building permits, of which 68% were for projects in rural areas, INS said in a monthly report.
Residential building permits issued in May decreased by an annual 11.6% and by a monthly 14.8%.
Non-residential permits amounted to 516 in May, dropping by 20.1% on the year and by 13.9% on the month.
The regional distribution of residential building permits issued in May shows an annual decrease in all of Romania's development regions. Non-residential permits increased in the South-East, North-West, and Centre regions and fell in all the other five development regions.
In 2023, Romania issued 34,646 building permits for residential projects, down 21% year-on-year.
