November 9 (SeeNews) - The value of the IT market in Romania is expected to reach 12 billion euro ($12.05 billion) in 2025, the Software and Services Industry Employers' Association (ANIS) said on Wednesday.
Compared to the average overall tendency of Romania's economic growth, the IT market has an annual growth rate that is 15 - 17% higher, ANIS said in a press release.
The current value of the IT market in the country is estimated at 9 billion euro, compared to 4.6 billion euro in 2015.
According to the association, the value of Romania's IT exports also grew between 2015 and 2022, from 2.5 billion euro to 6 billion euro, respectively.
"We notice a continuous growth of the software and services market in Romania, with the share impact of the IT sector in the national gross domestic product reaching 7%" ANIS executive director Gabriela Mechea said.
Large companies with more than 250 employees make up 47% of Romania's IT sector, while medium companies, with ones with between 50 and 250 employees make up 20%. Small companies with between two and 49 employees make up 27% of the sector, while micro companies with one employee make up for 8% of the sector.
When it comes to the geographical division, 60% of Romania's market volume is found in the capital Bucharest, followed by Cluj, with 18%.
Romania's IT sector currently is comprised of more than 21,800 companies, ANIS data also showed.
ANIS is a Romanian organisation of IT&C employers founded in 1998.
