BUCHAREST (Romania), January 14 (SeeNews) - Romania's consumer prices rose by 8.19% year-on-year in December, compared to an increase of 7.80% in November, the national statistical office, INS, said on Friday.
Food prices rose 6.69% year-on-year in December, while non-food prices added 10.73%, INS said in a statement.
Prices of services grew by 4.49%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.71% in December, as food prices were 0.84% higher, non-food prices rose by 0.74% and prices of services were 0.42% higher.
The average consumer price inflation over the last 12 months was 5.1%, compared to the previous 12 months.
On January 10, Romania's central bank decided to increase its monetary policy rate to 2.00% from 1.75% - the third rate hike since May 2018.
