Romania's Cluj Airport unveils expanded departures terminal

As part of the project, the departures terminal was expanded by 7,200 sq m, the aircraft parking platform was extended by 9,000 sq m, and new commercial spaces spanning more than 2,700 sq m were created, Cluj International Airport said in a press release on Wednesday. The airport now has seven Schengen boarding gates and four non-Schengen boarding gates, for a processing capacity of 4.5 million passengers per year.

The terminal expansion was executed by a Romanian consortium comprising construction companies Bog'Art, UTI Construction and Facility Management, and ACI CLUJ. The project was funded through European funds, the state budget, and the airport operator's own funds, as part of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme (POIM) 2014-2020.
