May 25 (SeeNews) - The construction of the 84.5 million lei ($18.3 million/17 million euro) Brasov-Ghimbav international airport in central Romania has been completed, Brasov county council president Adrian Ioan Vestea said.
Of the total value of the project, 24.4 million lei were allocated to the construction works and the installations of the contingency building, while the remaining 60.1 million lei funded the acquisition and implementation of navigation and related systems, Vestea said in a social media post on Wednesday.
“It is a historic moment for us, the county's public administration, to announce that we have completed the most important investment objective in the post-1989 history of Brasov county, achieved mostly through our own financial resources,” he added.
The works at the new airport were executed by a local consortium comprising technical infrastructure specialist UTI Construction and Facility Management and construction company Bog’Art, Vestea said in an earlier social media post.
The Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport is set to open on June 15, according to a social media post by the airport earlier this month.
