March 7 (SeeNews) - Romania’s road infrastructure company CNAIR said that a consortium comprising Romanian builders Geiger Transilvania and Pod-Proiect won a 21.4 million lei ($4.7 million/4.3 million euro) tender to rehabilitate a bridge over the Poarta Alba-Midia-Navodari canal on the Danube.
Project financing was secured from non-reimbursable European funds, CNAIR said in a press release on Wednesday.
Works must be completed within 15 months, with 4 months allocated to the design stage of the project and 11 months to the construction phase. The project will be covered by a ten-year warranty.
Constructed in 1987, the bridge is 214 metres long and requires both superstructure and infrastructure works, CNAIR general director Cristian Pistol said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Established in 2004, Geiger Transilvania is a Romanian construction company specialised in road works. In 2022, the company booked a net profit of 25.4 million lei on a turnover of 224.4 million lei while employing 426 people, according to data from the finance ministry.
Pod-Proiect was founded in 2002 and is a design and engineering specialist. In 2022, the company booked a net loss of 117,831 lei on a turnover of 1.7 million lei in 2022.
