November 24 (SeeNews) - Romanian telecommunications operator RCS&RDS won a 42.7 million euro tender ($47.9 million) for radio frequency rights, its parent Digi Communications [BSE: DIGI] said on Wednesday.
The Romanian Authority for Telecommunications, ANCOM, named RCS&RDS as winner of the tender for the 800 MHz, 2600 MHz, 3400- 3600 MHz frequency bands, it said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
ANCOM’s decision will allow RCS&RDS to continue to expand its business on the telecommunication market in Romania in order to provide high quality, technologically advanced and accessible services, Digi Communications also said.
RCS&RDS, founded by Romanian businessman Zoltan Teszari, comprises two companies - Romanian Cable Systems (RCS) founded in 1994, and Romanian Data Systems (RDS) founded in 1998. Its parent, Cable Communication Systems, now Digi Communications N.V., indirectly operates telecommunications groups in Hungary, Spain and Italy through RCS&RDS.
Digi is a member of the blue-chip BET and BET-TR indices.
Its shares traded 1.08% higher at 37.4 lei ($8.5/7.6 euro) as at 1306 CET on Wednesday.
