March 14 (SeeNews) - Romanian optics retailer Lensa increased its turnover by an annual 54% to almost 207 million lei ($45.5 million/41.6 million euro) in 2023, it said.
The growth in turnover was primarily driven by sales of prescription eyewear, which accounted for 76% of total sales, followed by sunglasses, which contributed 10%, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.
The sale of eyewear for sports, computer use, contact lenses, and accessories generated 14% of revenues.
Lensa's growth in 2023 was also underpinned by a strategic focus on expanding its physical footprint.
The company invested 30 million lei last year to open 45 new stores, four of which in Moldova and the rest across Romania. With 85 stores in total, Lensa owns outlets in 38 cities across the Romania, in addition to four stores in Moldova's capital Chisinau, and one in Bulgaria.
Lensa, established in 2013, employed 800 people at the end of last year.
