April 7 (SeeNews) - Romanian state-controlled drug maker Antibiotice [BSE:ATB] said on Tuesday that it has decided to urgently resume production of Paracetamol and Novocalmin in order to meet increased demand amid the COVID-19 health crisis.

By the end of April, Antobitoice Iasi will resume deliveries of the two drugs to local pharmacies and hospitals, it said in a press release.

Paracetamol and Novocalmin were both included in most EU treatment guides as the first option when treating patients with fever or pain caused by COVID 19 infection, Antibiotice said.

Starting March 23, Antibiotice Iasi has implemented a series of measures to protect its employees from the COVID-19 disease, such as limiting its operations to strictly necessary production activities.

Antibiotice Iasi is a state-owned pharmaceutical company that develops and produces 157 generic drugs for human use, veterinary drugs and Nystatin, an active ingredient. Its research centre and production facilities are based near Iasi county, in eastern Romania.

Antibiotice shares traded 0.97% lower at 0.51 lei ($0.11/0.11 euro) as at 1129 CET on Tuesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
