January 3 (SeeNews) - The foreign exchange reserves held by Romania's central bank, excluding gold, totalled 40.475 billion euro ($45.842 billion) at the end of December, compared to 39.283 billion euro a month earlier, the central bank said on Monday.
Foreign exchange inflows amounted to 5.023 billion euro representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, inflows into the finance ministry's accounts including the first tranche of the loan from the European Commission under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan in amount of 1.851 billion euro and inflows into the European Commission accounts, the bank said in a monthly statement.
Foreign exchange outflows totaled 3.831 billion euro, representing representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt and other.
The gold reserves of the central bank remained unchanged at 103.6 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to 5.356 billion euro at the end of December.
The international reserves of Romania, including foreign currencies and gold, totalled 45.831 billion euro as of end-December compared to 44.588 billion euro a month earlier.
During January, the payments due on the foreign currency-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt will amount to approximately 152 million euro.
