May 24 (SeeNews) - The combined profit of Romanian banks rose by an annual 42.5% to 1.17 billion lei ($290 million/259 million euro) in the first quarter of the year, as the share of non-performing loans (NPLs) edged up to 13.52% at the end of March, the central bank said.
