The production line is considered the most modern in PepsiCo's portfolio in Europe, producing around 1 million bottles per day, the company said in a press release.

The investment is part of the company's $40 million 5-year development plan of enhancing production lines and increasing production capacity at the Dragomiresti factory to over 800 million litres per year. The company also previously invested $15 million in building a fully automated warehouse with a 15,000 square meter area.

The new beverage line consumes 30% less energy than conventional lines, produces 40% more beverages per unit of time, reduces CO2 emissions by 20%, and conserves water by 30% per litre of beverage. Additionally, it eliminates the need for about 30 tonnes of plastic annually.

"The high level of automation allows our employees to focus on improving processes, professional and personal development, as well as the continuous simplification of operations. Thus, this investment will help us strengthen our position as a regional production and distribution hub for Central and South-Eastern Europe," said Radu Berevoescu, General Manager and Senior Commercial Director East Balkans at PepsiCo.

PepsiCo has invested more than $320 million in Romania over the last decade.
