January 11 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's REK Bitola thermal power plant (TPP) reconnected to the grid its 233-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 following a year-long maintenance, local media reported on Wednesday.
The installation of a new transformer at Unit 3 has been completed and the unit will continue to operate alongside Unit 1 and Unit 2, local news outlet Nezavisen reported.
The new transformer, replacing one which was damaged in a fire, was produced by Turkey-based company for electromechanical manufacturing Astor.
REK Bitola has three units with a capacity of 233 MW each, according to the website of the state-owned power utility Elektrani na Severna Makedonija (ESM).
REK Bitola accounts for over 72% of North Macedonia's total energy production.
