October 25 (SeeNews) - N. Macedonia's gross electricity production decreased by an annual 9.2% to 472,602 MWh in August, the statistical office said on Tuesday, citing preliminary data. Net electricity output fell by 10.8% year-on-year in August, to 439,028 MWh, Makstat said in a statement. Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in August, generating 267,935 MWh, up 24% compared to the same month in 2021.Hydro power plants generated 90,641 MWh, down 29.7% year-on-year. Wind parks' output rose 38.6% on the year to 9,477 MWh in the month under review, while biogas plants generated 3,169 MWh of electricity, down 35.1% compared with August 2021. Solar parks produced 4,276 MWh, up 48.4% on the year. North Macedonia’s electricity imports decreased by an annual 1.4% to 106,161 MWh in August. Electricity exports came in at 89,691 MWh in August, more than double compared to 41,288 MWh exported in the same month of last year. Distribution losses decreased by 19.1% on the year to 41,458 MWh in August.
