March 3 (SeeNews) - Montenegro has received the delivery of 30,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by China's Sinopharm, the country's government said on Wednesday.
"A contingent of 30,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine has just arrived in Montenegro, which was welcomed at the premises of Montefarm by the Minister of Health Jelena Borovinic Bojovic and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Liu Jin," Montenegro's government said in its Twitter account.
Last month, the Chinese embassy in Podgorica said China's government has approved a donation of 30,000 doses of the vaccine to Montenegro.
Montenegro received the first batch of 2,000 doses from a total of 4,000 jabs of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine to be donated from Serbia earlier in February. Further 5,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine were delivered to Montenegro by Russia on February 25.
The country's foreign minister Djordje Radulovic said in February that the government has not yet received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the EU, despite requests made to EU officials.
