McDonald’s Europe ends franchise deal with licence holder in Macedonia

SKOPJE (Macedonia), May 16 (SeeNews) – McDonald’s Europe said on Thursday it terminated the franchise agreements with its developmental licensee in Macedonia, SJ Company, as of May 14.

"After the termination of the agreements, SJ Company no longer has the rights to operate restaurants under the McDonald’s brand," Agnes Vadnai, European communications director at McDonald’s Europe, told SeeNews in an email.

The five restaurants previously operated as part of the McDonald’s franchise, were closed down on Tuesday, she said, adding that SJ Company should now decide on their future operation.

It is too early to speculate about McDonald’s future actions, Vadnai added.
