September 28 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's government said it decided to require a negative COVID-19 test result from foreigners from countries assessed as high-risk by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in order to combat the spread of the infection.
Transit passengers are exempt from the requirement but they will have to sign a statement that they will leave the country within three to five hours, depending on the transport type, Kosovo's government said in a statement on Friday.
Transport workers and foreign diplomats will not be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result upon entry.
Kosovo is also prohibiting the gathering of more than five people in public places and ordering the closure of all public markets for vehicles and animals. Cultural activities are now allowed using only 40% of the space of the facilities and public transport will carry passengers at half of its capacity.
Other key measures include shorter working hours at all entities that provide gastronomy services and mandatory body temperature measurement for everyone when entering public and private buildings.
The government did not say when the decisions will take effect.
Kosovo has registered a total of 12,683 coronavirus cases as of Monday. So far, 488 people have succumbed to the COVID-19 disease, health ministry data shows.
