PRISTINA (Kosovo), July 11 (SeeNews) – Kosovo operators in the mobile, fixed-line and internet segments generated 21.6 million euro ($25.3 million) in total revenues in the first quarter of the year, up 9.3% on the year but 6.78% lower on a quarterly basis, the country's Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications said.
Mobile operator Vala, owned by state-owned Post and Telecom of Kosovo (PTK), accounted for 53.74% of the total revenue in the sector, down from 55.47% of the total denerated in the last quarter, the regulator said in a report last week.
IPKO, a unit of Telekom Slovenije, increased its share of the total revenue to 38.80% of the total in the January-March period from 36.23% in the fourth quarter of 2017.
The total number of mobile subscribers in Kosovo decreased to 1.88 million in the first quarter from 2.03 million a quarter earlier.
Vala's market share in terms of mobile subscribers shrank to 53.07% from 56.09% in the previous quarter, whereas IPKO raised the share of its subscribers to 35.35% from 33.59%.
Two other operators operating on Kosovo's mobile services market - Z Mobile and D3 Mobile - held a market share of 9.95% and 1.63%, respectively.
