“The allocation aims to help Turkish citizens who have been affected by the earthquake as well as the process of recovery and reconstruction,” Murati stated in a video posted on the government’s social media channels on Wednesday.
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria in February, killing some 50,000 people, according to United Nations figures. As many as 400,000 people are estimated to have been affected by the disaster.
