July 5 (SeeNews) - Serbia's IT industry is expanding rapidly and is currently generating 10% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP), finance minister Sinisa Mali has said.
Serbian exports of IT products have already reached 1 billion euro ($1.17 billion) so far this year, Mali said on Wednesday, as quoted in a statement by the finance ministry.
The Serbian government is developing an e-government, Mali also said, adding that it issued 6 million documents in a digital form last year, generating savings of 2.2 million euro.
The exports of Serbia's IT sector amounted to 900 million euro last year, exceeding the export revenue from traditional sectors such as agriculture and wood processing, prime minister Ana Brnabic said in March.
