SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 6 (SeeNews) - India's president Ram Nath Kovind has invited Bulgaria's defence industry to participate in the Make in India initiative aimed at facilitating investment and fostering innovation in the country.
"Bulgaria can become a key partner for India in the defence sector under our 'Make in India' programme and in technology-intensive sectors such as IT, logistics and infrastructure under our 'Digital India' and 'Smart Cities' programme," Kovind said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of Indian broadcaster DD News on Wednesday.
Make in India is a major national programme designed to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and build best in class manufacturing infrastructure in the country. The primary objective of the initiative is to attract investment from across the globe and strengthen India’s manufacturing sector.
Indian companies are also keen to deepen their footprint in the Bulgarian market, Kovind said during a news conference following a meeting with Bulgaria's president Rumen Radev in Sofia.
Both presidents signed cooperation agreements between agencies Invest India and Invest Bulgaria; on cooperation in and facilitation of tourism; on enhanced science and technology cooperation; and on civil nuclear research and cooperation, according to a statement issued by the Indian President's Office.
