May 25 (SeeNews) - An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will visit Bucharest during May 30 - June 10 to evaluate the state of the country's economy, the IMF resident representative office said on Wednesday.
The IMF mission led by Jan Kees Martijn will meet with representatives of the finance ministry, the central bank and government agencies, as well as with representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organizations, the IMF representative office said in a statement.
The IMF delegation will conduct the annual review of the Romanian economy under the Article IV consultation. The last Article IV consultation with Romania took place remotely in May 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Currently, Romania has no funding arrangement with the IMF. It had a 2 billion euro ($2.14 billion) two-year precautionary stand-by agreement with the IMF which expired in September 2015 without the country withdrawing money.
In April, the IMF said that Romania's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 2.2% this year, cutting its forecast for 4.8% expansion made in October.
