The footage, provided at Bulgaria's request, covers the area surrounding the coastal city of Burgas, BTA reported on Thursday.

If Bulgaria requests assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the Commission will coordinate with all EU member states to determine how each can contribute, BTA said.

Earlier this week, torrential rains caused devastating floods in Tsarevo municipality in Burgas region resulting in four casualties and extensive damage to infrastructure, with more than 130 people evacuated, BTA reported previously. Additionally, bridges in the town of Ahtopol and the village of Varvara, as well as the bridge connecting the new and old town of Tsarevo, were destroyed.

Copernicus is the Earth observation component of the European Union’s space programme, providing free and open satellite data to hundreds of thousands of users daily, according to its website.
