November 22 (SeeNews) - Danish bedding and furniture retailer JYSK said that its gross profit in Romania rose 12.8% to 75.6 million lei ($17.5 million/15.8 million euro) in the financial year 2019.
JYSK's sales in Romania rose by 20.5% on the year to 582 million lei in the January-September perod, the company said in a press release on Thursday.
“The positive results of the financial year 2019 are due to an increase in sales for both old and new stores. In terms of products, the biggest sales were generated by interior furniture, followed by mattresses, duvets, pillows and garden items," JYSK country manager for Romania and Bulgaria Alex Bratu said.
In 2019, JYSK Romania opened 15 new stores, expanding into the cities of Husi, Titu, Orastie, Onesti, Valenii de Munte, Slobozia and Mioveni.
Earlier this month, JYSK opened a new store in the northern city of Carei, in Satu-Mare county.
Jysk entered the Romanian market in 2007 and currently has 80 stores with a staff of over 860.
