September 20 (SeeNews) - Croatia’s top retailer Konzum, part of the Fortenova group, said it opened on Wednesday in Zagreb a cashierless supermarket, the first of its kind in southeastern Europe, as part of its continuous investments in its store network.
The value of the investment was not disclosed.
In the new store, customers scan the QR code of the products they wish to buy using an app on their mobile phones and can then pay automatically with their debit or credit card registered with the app. The store offers more than 1,700 goods.
In March, Konzum said it is investing 25 million euro ($27 million) this year in expansion and upgrade of its store network.
