Croatian share indices drop as Hrvatski Telekom goes ex-dividend

May 10 (SeeNews) - The main equity indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange declined as Friday was an ex-dividend date for shares of Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT], bourse data showed.

The 21-share benchmark, the CROBEX, fell 0.34% to close at 2,795.97 points.

The narrower equity index CROBEX10, which tracks the top ten issuers in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, ended 0.67% lower at 1,687.98 points.

index heavyweight Hrvatski Telekom was the most traded company with a turnover of some 180,00 euro ($194,000). Its shares shed 3.57% to 29.70 euro.

The biggest daily gainer was luxury clothing producer Varteks [ZSE:VART]. Its share price soared 33.33% to end at 0.24 euro in a turnover of 8,591 equities. On Thursday the company said that its bank account has been blocked due to a request for forced payment to cover employee wages. However, later on Thursday it also announced that one of its shareholders has offered the company a loan to pay all unpaid salaries and to buy fabrics.

The total bourse turnover plunged to just 880,000 euro from 1.7 million euro a day earlier.
