March 15 (SeeNews) - Croatia expects to receive about one million COVID-19 vaccine doses from different pharmaceutical companies by the beginning of May, prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said.
The government has ordered a total of 6.8 million vaccine doses and has received about 430,000 so far, the government press office quoted Plenkovic as saying in an interview.
As a tourist country, Croatia plans to start the summer season with as many vaccinated citizens as possible, Plenkovic added.
The Croatian Institute of Public Health held an online meeting with an unnamed Chinese manufacturer of a coronavirus vaccine on Friday, the government said in a separate statement, adding that more details regarding the meeting will be announced later.
By Sunday, Croatia, with a population of 4.1 million, has confirmed 251,045 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak of the disease, including 5,677 deaths.
