February 2 (SeeNews) - Croatia's state-owned motorway management company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) said on Friday that it intends to sign a 100 million euro ($108 million) deal with a consortium comprising Slovak company SkyToll and Czech TollNet following a tender for the introduction of a new electronic road toll payment system.
"The consortium submitted a valid bid, worth worth 79.9 million euro without VAT, equal 99.9 million euro VAT included, which has been assessed as economically the most favourable one," HAC said in a statement.
A consortium of Austria's Kapsch TrafficCom and Croatia's Spinne Traffic submitted the second best bid in the tender, which HAC announced in April last year.
HAC opened the bidding process in July 2023.
A total of 10 bids were submitted in the tender by technology companies and consortia. The other bidders were UAE company Tahaluf AL Emarat Technical Solutions; Chinese CTFO Jeton Technology CO; a consortium of Croatia's King lCT and Norwegian Q-FREE Norge; a consortium of Croatia's Ericsson Nikola Tesla [ZSE:ERNT], France's Grenobloise d'Electronique et d'Automatismes, US TransCore and Croatia's Multicom; Croatia Koncar – Digital; Turkey's Tetra HGS Elektronik Sistemleri; and a consortium comprising Slovenia's S&T lskratel, Kontron, and Spain's Tecsidel.
According to HAC, five of the bids submitted in the tender were not valid.
