March 26 (SeeNews) - China Railway International (CRI) and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) plan to complete the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Stara Pazova railway section in Serbia by September, the Serbian president's office said.
The two Chinese companies intend to open for traffic the Belgrade-Stara Pazova section, part of the railway line connecting Serbia's capital to Hungary's Budapest, by the end of the year and to start works on the Novi Sad-Subotica section of the railway by September 1, the Serbian president's office said in a statement on Thursday.
Russian railway infrastructure engineering company RZD International will start the construction of an Integrated Traffic Control Centre (ITTC) in Serbia in September and will complete the project by 2025, the president's office said.
"We will have the most modern railway, the most technologically advanced in this part of Europe. In less than a year, people will be able to travel on the Belgrade-Novi Sad line," president Aleksandar Vucic said during an inspection of the construction works on the Belgrade-Stara Pazova section.
The overhaul of the 34.5 km Belgrade-Stara Pazova section of the railway was launched in November 2017. Back then, the Serbian government said it planned to invest $350.1 million (296.4 million euro) in the project.
