SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s unemployment rate rose to 4.8% in the third quarter of 2020, from 3.7% in the same period of last year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.
Youth unemployment (age bracket 15-29 years), increased to 8.3% in the July-September period of this year from 6.1% in the comparable quarter of 2019, NSI said in a quarterly labour force survey.
The long-term unemployment rate (people who have been without a job for more than a year) was 2.2%, or 71,700 people.
The employment rate among people aged 15 to 64 fell 1.8 percentage points year-on-year to 69.6% in the third quarter of 2020. The percentage of economically active people aged 15-64 decreased by 1.0 points to 73.2%.
There were 1.18 million economically inactive people aged 15-64 in the quarter under review, or 26.8% of the population in this age group.
