SOFIA (Bulgaria), May 18 (SeeNews) – Three tie-ups have filed bids in a new tender for awarding a 35-year concession contract to operate Plovdiv Airport, the transport ministry said on Thursday.
Silk Road Plovdiv Airport, Consortium Plovdiv Airport and a tie-up between Hainan and Plovdiv Airport Invest are the three bidders, the transport ministry said in a press release without providing further information about the candidates.
Attracting a financially stable investor will ensure the development, the ministry added.
The previous tender for a concessionaire of the airport in Bulgaria's second largest city attracted no bids. The financial parameters of the tender included mandatory investment of at least 35.2 million euro ($39.1 million) during the 35-year concession period, of which at least 16.8 million euro to be invested in the first five years.
Plovdiv Airport, in southern Bulgaria, handled more than 100,000 passengers in 2015.
