June 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's industrial producer price index (PPI) increased by 38.2% year-on-year in May, after rising 40.2% in April, mainly due to a jump in the prices of utilities, the statistical office said on Thursday.
The growth in producer prices in May came on the back of an 83.8% annual rise in the prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly statement.
On the domestic market, industrial PPI climbed by an annual 47.7% in the fifth month of 2022, while on the non-domestic market it rose by 24% .
The PPI index edged up by 0.4% on a monthly comparison basis in May. At the same time, prices went down in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 4.0% month-on-month. Chemicals and chemical products manufacturing was costlier by 4.9% while prices in food products manufacturing increased by 3.2% on the month.
Industrial PPI on the domestic market inched down 0.1% on a monthly comparison basis in May, while on the non-domestic market the index added 1.3%.
