Bulgaria's industrial output falls 6.3% y/y in May

July 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's industrial production index fell by 6.3% on the year in May after slipping by a revised 0.4% in April, the statistical office said on Wednesday, citing preliminary and seasonally-adjusted data.

On a monthly comparison basis, Bulgaria's industrial output went down by 3.3% in the fifth month of 2024, following a revised increase of 2.8% in April, the National Statistical Office (NSI) said in a monthly report.

All three main industrial sectors posted annual declines in their production rates in the review month, with mining and quarrying output losing the most - 15.6%, followed by manufacturing with a 6% drop.

In monthly terms, production in the mining and quarrying industry shed 10.2%, while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and manufacturing it was 5.3% and 2.3% lower, respectively.
