May 13 (SeeNews) - The average gross monthly wage in Bulgaria rose by 9% year-on-year to 1,593 levs ($847/815 euro) in the first quarter of 2022, the statistical institute said on Friday.
On a quarterly comparison basis, the average gross monthly wage slid by 1.2% in the January-March period, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The highest average wage, of 4,060 levs, was recorded in the information and communications sector, followed by financial and insurance activities with 2,540 levs. By contrast, the accommodation and food services sector had the lowest gross wage, of 964 levs.
On an annual comparison basis, the average monthly wages in the public sector edged up by 1.8% whereas those in the private sector added 11.6%.
