September 1 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria increased to 804.3 million levs ($485.2 million/411.2 million euro) in the January-July period, from 596.3 million levs in the same period of last year, the country's central bank said.The banking sector's net operating income rose to some 2.6 billion levs in the first seven months of the year from 2.4 billion levs in the prior-year period, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly report on the performance of the country's banks published on Tuesday.The gross interest income of Bulgarian banks edged up to 1.74 billion levs in the review period from 1.73 million levs the year before. Gross fee and commission income increased to 815.6 million levs in the seven months through July from 691.9 million levs a year earlier.The banks' total assets amounted to 130.6 billion levs at the end of July, up from 117.7 billion levs a year earlier.(1 euro = 1.95583 levs)
