October 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's prime ministry Boyko Borissov said that the construction of the new Rudozem - Xanthi crossing at the border with Greece will be completed in the beginning of 2021.
"This is a huge infrastructure project which will create conditions for the quick and easy travel between Bulgaria and Greece," Boyko Borissov said in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday.
As a result of the expected increase in traffic and the development of the region, Bulgaria will also work to improve the local road and water supply infrastructure, Borissov added.
The construction of the Rudozem - Xanthi crossing was launched in February.
The project benefits from EU funding under the INTERREG V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 cooperation programme.
