SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), October 30 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's IMRES Smart Greenergy and Turkish engineering firm Enprode signed a deal for the construction of a 51 MW wind farm and for research to build a 1,120 MW reversible hydroelectric power plant, which could be the largest of its kind in Southeast Europe, the government of Bosnia's Canton 10 said.
The value of the investment is 1.6 billion euro ($1.9 billion) and has been secured by Enprode, the government said in a statement over the weekend.
Both the Siroka Draga wind farm and the planned HPP are located near the Kamesnica mountain.
Some 3,000 people are expected to be employed. The timeframe for the completion of the wind park is between three and five years.
"[...] there is a huge potential for the production of electricity for which there is high demand in the neighbouring countries," Yuksel Guler is quoted saying in the statement.
Canton 10 is one of the 10 cantons of the Federation, one of the entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Serb Republic.
