February 1 (SeeNews) - Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, said on Thursday that it opened a new store in the southern city of Haskovo, with plans to launch 11 more in the country by the end of 2024.
The retailer invested 2 million levs ($1.1 million/1 million euro) in the Haskovo site, located in the newly built Retail Park Haskovo, it said in a press release.
Last week, the company said it has started installing a specialised water use monitoring system at its sites, which is set to reduce water consumption by 15% annually.
The Austria-based retailer entered the Bulgarian market in 2000 and operates nearly 160 stores in 50 towns and cities across the country.
