May 29 (SeeNews) - Croatian Adriatic port operator Luka Ploce [ZSE:LKPC] said on Wednesday it is losing one of its main business partners, Bosnian manufacturer of long steel products ArcelorMittal Zenica, because the steel mill has closed down its coke plant.

The steel mill in Zenica will continue operating, Luka Ploce said in a filing to the Zagreb bourse.

For many years ArcelorMittal Zenica has imported coal via the Ploce port to produce coke. Now, the steel maker will procure coke partly on the Bosnian market, partly through imports.

Last year, ArcelorMittal Zenica imported via the port of Ploce 403,570 tonnes of coal, and a further 38,000 tonnes in the first five months of this year.

"The management of Luka Ploce is investing maximum efforts to deal with the new situation," the port operator said.

ArcelorMittal Zenica is part of Luxembourg-based steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal.

Luka Ploce’s shares traded 4.55% lower at 126 euro ($136.5) by 1308 local time on Wednesday on the Zagreb bourse.
