The head of head of Port of Rijeka Authority, Denis Vukorepa, signs a deal for concession for Zagreb Deep Sea terminal with Morten Engelstoft, CEO of APM Terminals, and Pavao Vujnovac, CEO of Energia Naturalis group (ENNA).
November 5 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Rijeka Port Authority said on Friday it signed a concession contract worth an estimated 20.5 billion kuna ($3.1 billion/2.7 billion euro) for development and operation of Zagreb Deep Sea terminal with a consortium comprising Dutch-based APM Terminals and local Enna Logic.
“Today we sign the largest deal in the history of the port of Rijeka, both in terms of importance and value,” the head of the Rijeka Port Authority, Denis Vukorepa, said in a press release.
The concession was awarded for a period of 50 years, with the consortium to pay a concession fee of 2 million euro ($2.4 million) per year.
Under the deal, the consortium promised to build a new 280-metre long wharf and guaranteed a container traffic of 1 million twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) units in the first two years of operating the terminal.
The signing of the contract followed a successful tender procedure launched on March 22, in which the consortium submitted the sole bid.
Rijeka Port Authority said earlier that the Dutch-based container terminal operator will hold 51% interest in the consortium and Vukovar-based transportation services provider Enna Logic will have a 49% stake.
