Albania's Jan-May budget surplus rises 40% y/y

June 18 (SeeNews) - Albania's consolidated budget was in surplus of 50.5 billion leks ($539 million/503 million euro) in the first five months of 2024, up from 36.2 billion leks in the same period in 2023, finance ministry data showed on Tuesday.

Consolidated budget revenue increased by 11.2% year-on-year to 287.1 billion leks in the January-May period, whereas expenditures rose 6.4% to 236.6 billion leks, the finance ministry said in a statement, quoting preliminary figures.

Tax revenue grew 12.3% to 157.3 billion leks.

Albania's consolidated budget was in deficit of 31.3 billion leks at the end of 2023, finance ministry data showed last month.
