Albania's building permits decline in Q1

May 31 (SeeNews) - The Albanian authorities issued 311 building permits in the first quarter of 2024, down 27.5% as compared to the first quarter of 2023, the national statistical office INSTAT said.

As many as 235 permits were issued for the construction of residential buildings, INSTAT said in a quarterly report on Thursday.

The approved permits covered projects with a total area of 357,585 square metres, a 14% decrease from the same period in 2023.

The estimated value of the approved construction projects decreased to 13.6 billion leks ($145 million/134 million euro) in the period under review, from 21 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The highest number of permits, 109, were issued for buildings in the capital Tirana, followed by 88 in the coastal city of Durres.
