TIRANA (Albania), July 1 (SeeNews) – The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased 7.6% year-on-year in the first five months of 2019, reaching 6.8 billion leks ($62.4 million/54.9 million euro), official figures show.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance grew 6.7% to 6.2 billion leks, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 488.5 million leks, up 12.9%, according to figures published by the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority late on Friday.
Total gross claims paid increased to 2.34 billion leks as at the end of May, from 2.26 billion leks a year earlier.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
