May 31 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased by 16.75% year-on-year in the first four months of 2023, reaching 6.8 billion leks ($66.3 million/62 million euro), official figures show.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose by 16.17% on the year to 6.25 billion leks in the January-April period, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 566 million leks, up 23.82%, the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) said in a data release on Monday.
Total gross claims paid decreased by 3.26% on the year to 2.1 billion leks in the review period.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
