December 21 (SeeNews) - Albania's health minister Ogerta Manastirliu said on Monday the country has decided to suspend flights to and from the UK until January 6 due to a new Covid-19 mutation, local media reported.
In addition, as a precautionary measure, all passengers arriving from the UK by land will have to self-isolate for 14 days upon entry, Albanian Daily News quoted Manastirliu as saying.
The flight suspension will take effect on Tuesday.
The British government said on Sunday the newly identified strain of Covid-19 transmits more quickly than other variants, although there is no evidence that it is more likely to cause severe disease or mortality.
