August 26 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state-owned postal operator Posta Srbije said that flag carrier Air Serbia plans to introduce direct service linking Belgrade to China's Beijing in January 2022.
"In order to establish long-term stable delivery of postal items from China, Posta Srbije initiated direct negotiations with the national operator of China, and additional acceleration of e-commerce flows is expected in January 2022, announced by introducing a direct Air Serbia flight to Beijing," the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
In June, Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic proposed to launch direct flights from Belgrade to Beijing and Shanghai to help open new opportunities for economic cooperation.
In November 2018, China's Hainan Airlines suspended the sale of tickets for its regular service linking Beijing to Serbia's capital Belgrade via Prague. Hainan started operating a regular service between Beijing and Belgrade, via Prague, after a 17-year pause, in September 2017.
